there is this to know: the square itself is lovely and certainly worthwhile, but the neighborhood surrounding is the real stunner. leafy trees, row houses, and gothic steeples commune, and the folk club where bob dylan and simon & garfunkel debuted was once around the corner. it's a pretty special place.

angie and i spent friday afternoon over in brooklyn and walked back to manhattan across
the williamsburg bridge. we've been together nearly two years now, the city and i, and that
skyline still makes my heart beat fast.

long, winding walks home continue to be one of the best things of summer, and did anyone catch the sunset last night? it burned a deep pink, spread slowly across the island, and brushed right up to the buildings lining fifth. extraordinary.

currently trying hard to not forget:
the way black-eyed susans are popping up out of nowhere. how magnificent manhattan looks when she is twinkling. the simple joy of finding my favorite poets on stamps. how saturdays always seem to stretch endlessly, gloriously before us. the way she reads to me on the subway. the way they picked up guitars and played blood bank just for me. how they didn't care that i can't sing along to save my life.
so delicate, so precious, these bits and pieces are, and i'm trying so hard to soak them in, every last one, as i live them, these small moments that make a life.
