a postcard

full of popcorn trees.

i don't even know their true name, but my brother called them this when he was still small, and
though he's mostly grown now, popcorn trees they'll always be. fitting, too, as they pop up all
over manhattan and make this place so cheerful. i do love new york in the spring.

28 March 2012

union station, d.c.

i found it haunting, i found it lovely, i found myself colliding with a new york friend right there
in the terminal. i should've felt more surprised than i did, but these happy chances don't fail
to find me in the oddest of places.

(may there always be trains to ride and stations to rush through and archways so breathtaking
i'll nearly miss the call to board. may there always be these specklings of serendipity that keep
me wondering what's around every corner.)

about that weekend in d.c.

dazzle me, that city did. just like it always does.

26 March 2012

kimmie gets engaged.

few things compare to that friday morning phone call from my college friend kimmie announcing her engagement, followed by a will you come to dc to take
our photos?
of course, of course, of course i will…

a postcard

full of bits & pieces.

the true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.*

and that's where my head is this morning: blessed and content in all these simple details of the days in which i'm living.

*words of william morris.
**i'm also over at sophie's beautiful blog
today talking about my bucket list,
what i'm reading, and my perfect day.
