the year of 23; one year in new york; a second thanksgiving in the city; my first s'mores; my first ice cream truck cone; my first trip to the museum of modern art; my first red lipstick; my first real snow; iron & wine at radio city and terminal five; the book that made me miss trains and cry in public; a fortunate, unexpected day in montreal; london and the english seaside, moors, and countryside; letters
and wishes and coffeehouses; a hurricane weekend of endless books and conversation; adventures to d.c. for the cherry blossoms, to harlem for fried chicken and sweet tea, upstate for apples, to brooklyn for maple lattes, and uptown for poetry readings; long walks and my favorite blanket to soothe an aching heart; visits to family in dallas and friends in williamsburg and baltimore; invaluable lessons in self and relationships and acts of kindness; zinnias and dandelion jelly and watermelon + bleu cheese salads; rope swings and that glorious week on the lake; finally getting back to charleston; and making it home for christmas.
the good year, the challenging year, that year that i'll remember living and loving and missing and cherishing harder than ever before.
thanks so much for reading. happy new year! may it be our best one yet, all of us.
